PrecisionLab brings grip pressure, aiming trace, pistol movement, respiration and heart rate together on one synchronised, shot-centred timeline. It is built for coaches and athletes who want objective data instead of guesswork.

The signal stack

Grip & Trigger Pressure

Live
Pressure sensors sit in the key contact points of the instrumented grip. They track the trigger, middle, ring and little fingers, the fingertips, thumb and palm, all at once, at 200 Hz. Pressure is reported as a percentage on each channel.

Aiming Trace Integration

GripDoctor imports and integrates aiming data exported from SCATT, then aligns it with the pressure recording using the physical shot as a common reference point. This creates a synchronised cross-signal view for detailed shot analysis.

Pistol Movement

Six-axis acceleration and rotation, recorded directly from the pistol and lined up with the other signals. Built to show movement and rotation around T0 and through the follow-through.

3D Camera Tracking

A multi-camera setup designed to pick up sub-millimetre changes in tracked marker positions across the head, shoulder, arm, wrist, pistol, torso, hips and legs.

AI-assisted analysis

A coach asks a question about the session in plain language. PrecisionLab looks for patterns across the synchronised signals, suggests a possible mechanism, and puts together a report for the coach to check.

In development

AI-assisted analysis is the planned analytical direction for PrecisionLab. The aim is an assistant for pistol shooters and coaches that identifies relationships and recurring patterns across the synchronised signals, supporting coaching judgement with measurable evidence rather than replacing it.

  • Pattern identification. The AI looks for sensor combinations that keep showing up across outlier shots, each with a stated confidence level.
  • Proposed mechanism. It suggests a likely cause based on the timing of the signals. The report is clear that this is an observation, not proof. A verification test is always suggested.
  • Coach review. The coach agrees, partly agrees, or disagrees, and records that in the report. The analysis is there to support the coach's judgement, not replace it. Every observation, proposed mechanism and suggested test stays subject to the coach's review.
The problem

Sensory adaptation dulls awareness of steady pressure over time. Small changes in the hand can build up slowly, without giving a clear warning, even to well trained shooters. Over-gripping, sympathetic movement in the other fingers, and a drop in grip pressure at the moment of release do not have to stay guesswork.

Aiming stayed steady throughout. The real movement happened right at the shot and in the moment after it. The grip data showed exactly what the score did not. This shot is one example. The same pattern showed up across several others.

The PrecisionLab interface is designed to bring the full shot timeline, the SCATT trace and the cross-signal analysis into one view. It's meant for a coach going through a session, not for someone digging through raw data files. The image below shows the interface we are working towards.
